Privacy Policy

Pal AI ("we," "us," "our") is built and operated by Brandon Farnsworth. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

• Apple user identifier. When you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable user ID, optional email, and optional name. We use this to identify your account so your pets and journal sync across your devices.
• Pet profiles. Names, species, and emoji you create in the app.
• Reading metadata. The mood, quote, summary, signals, and other text generated when you analyze a clip.
• Subscription state. Whether you have an active Pal AI Pro subscription. Managed by Apple via in-app purchases and tracked through RevenueCat.
• Device push token. If you enable notifications, we store the token your phone uses to receive push messages from Pal AI.

What we do NOT collect

• Your videos. Recorded clips stay on your device. We send the clip to our analysis pipeline (Google Gemini for vision and Anthropic Claude for interpretation) only for the duration of the analysis. The clip is not stored on our servers.
• Thumbnails. Generated locally on your device, never uploaded.
• Tracking, advertising, or analytics IDs. No third-party trackers, no ad SDKs.

How we use AI

When you analyze a clip, the video is sent over an encrypted connection to:

• Google Gemini — to extract objective body-language observations (Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy).
• Anthropic Claude — to interpret the observations and write your reading (Anthropic's privacy policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy).

Both providers process the request and return text. Per Anthropic's API terms, your inputs are not used to train their models. Gemini's API similarly has strict data-handling commitments for paid API customers.

Where data is stored

Reading metadata, pet profiles, and account records are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure (D1 database in North America). We chose Cloudflare for its strong security posture and minimal data retention.

Your choices

• Sign out: Apple sign-in can be disconnected at any time from your iOS Settings → Apple ID → Sign-In with Apple.
• Delete an account: email hello@palai.pet with the subject "Delete account." We will delete your record and all associated pets/readings within 7 days.
• Clear your journal: Profile tab → Data → Clear journal removes everything stored on your device.
• Disable notifications: Profile tab toggle, or iOS Settings → Pal AI → Notifications.

Children

Pal AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact hello@palai.pet and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and bump the "Updated" date at the top. Continued use of Pal AI after a change means you accept it.
